United 93

Written By Dan Franklin

If there’s ever a film that you’ll feel wrong for enjoying, it’s this one. Though with the great performances, well thought-out script, and it’s relentless & dramatic energy, it’s pretty nigh on impossible to deny it's brilliance.

I watched it in the early hours of one morning last week, through my laptop and with headphones on, and the entire film had me gripped from slow-building start to immensely-moving, tragic finish.

It’d been quite a while since a film had grabbed me so much, and I literally sat there throughout, mesmerized at the events unfolding uncomfortably onscreen. It’s one of those rare films where you find yourself not being able to tear your eyes away, no matter what.

I’ve also gotta note that the film brought back some horrible feelings from that time that I didn’t really enjoy revisiting. Total disgust at the cunts that hijacked the planes, despair & upset for the innocent dead, & in a way, a fear of the future. Not nice, but at the same time I guess I always knew this wouldn’t be comfortable viewing on any level, and the constant sense of impending doom doesn't make for easy viewing. So, not one for a first date, then.

Still, it’s a great and deeply moving film, that I heartily recommend to all. It’s almost like you have to see it, such is the importance and emotional impact the event had on so many people. It's a fitting tribute, and a great piece of film-making.

See it, be gripped by it, but trust me, the harsh, horrible reality of this film won’t be leaving you for a while.
